Praveen Kumar is a Mangalorean armed with a BFA (Painting) at DMS, Mysore and an MVA (Painting) from Jain University, Bangalore. He has been recognized for his abstract work with awards such as the Leela Puraskar Indore (2014), the Sa-Mudra-Nirman-Puraskar (2012) and the Lalit Kala Akademi, and Karnataka State Award (2008). He loves to paint cityscapes, and Praveen’s work is a colorful representation of the grey we see around us. Praveen has been able to translate the pace of a city to the way he sees them. His 2D images, compel the viewer’s eyes to roam the outlines, explore the colors within, and breathe in the mixed hues around vertical and geometrical lines he has sketched. Praveen uses various mediums to express himself on the canvas. He has been known to use acrylic, charcoal, pen, and ink. He has also been a part of numerous art shows. Currently, he works out of Bengaluru as an Art Director for ‘Mesmerizers’ and takes up architectural design freelance work in his spare time.
