An effort to save Indian textiles. The young clothing brand based in Jaipur was founded by NIFT graduates Arshia and Avishek in 2017. Rias Jaipur is more than just a label. They are the saviours of our forgotten values as a vibrant country with many cultures.
The label brings two ancient crafts of India under the spotlight - Dabu/bagru & hand block printing over handwoven fabrics. The duo likes to think of it as a cocktail of ancient printing and weaving techniques of Rajasthan and West Bengal. In an attempt to keep these crafts alive, their initiative acts as a bridge between ancient knowledge and skill on one hand and modern design on the other. “A small initiative to #SAVEINDIANTEXTILE” as they like to call it.
They make sure to employ homegrown textiles like indigenous wild cotton and bamboo fibre to design their clothes from a place of sensitivity and love for their homeland and Indian farmers.
With a minimal yet universal design aesthetic, they like to play around with lines and fluid cuts to get relaxed silhouettes for the modern-day woman.
