Growing up with her grandmother in the upper valleys of Assam, the designer is inspired by the skillful crafts of India that have helped local artisans and the craftsmen thrive for centuries while being sustainable in carrying forward their cultural roots beyond their native towns and cities, generation after generation. It’s where rhythm and unity come together in an act of breaking the cocoon. Majushree’s background in styling, creative direction, and freelancing as a stylist contributed to the development of the label’s aesthetic.

‘Ura’ meaning fly defines their timeless power suits and tailored clothes while ‘Maku’ stands for shuttle representing handwoven, handcrafted textiles of India. The look is all about simplicity, driven by a focus on shape, texture, and proportion. Timeless silhouettes are inspired by historical evidence from fashion exploring every piece of fabric in its purest form, as more of a story with a different flow to each one.
